Hi! I'm Alejandra, a Mexican artist.Â
I specialize in portraits, especially animals with vibrant colors, playful backgrounds, and a mix of realism and bold, expressive strokes.Â
I want to invite you to my free beginner-friendly painting cats workshop, where weâll do a simple exercise that will help you loosen up and get expressive with shapes and color.
Iâll be working digitally using the most basic Wacom tablet and Photoshop, but the exercises can be done in any digital app as well as in traditional opaque mediums like gouache, opaque acrylics, and even oils.
So grab your favorite warm beverage, and letâs paint some funky cats together!
(If you can't attend on this date, you can still register and I will send you an email with the replay of the session)

Hi, Iâm Alejandra Caballero,
a Mexican artist based in Mexico City.
My journey began in my motherâs tiny art studio, where I spent hours drawing as a kid, surrounded by paints, art supplies, and art books. I truly believe that growing up in that creative environment sparked my passion, and I just never stopped experimenting and making art.
I studied Visual Arts at La Esmeralda, but everything I learned about painting came from studying online, thanks to generous artists who shared their process. That spirit of sharing is what inspires me to teach today.
I specialize in portraits, especially animal and whimsical portraits, using vibrant colors, playful backgrounds, and a mix of realism and bold, expressive strokes. I consider my painting process intuitive and meditative; I like to discover the painting as I go and allow for a lot of play and exploration.
In this course, I will share the exercises that truly helped me improve and show how you can have fun with practices that develop your instincts for color, proportion, and looseness. Then i'll teach you how I create my cat portraits and my signature, more elaborate portraits with full backgrounds, step by step.
