Hi, I’m Alejandra Caballero,
Hi! I’m Alejandra Caballero, a Mexican artist based in Mexico City.
My journey began in my mother’s tiny art studio, where I spent hours drawing as a kid, surrounded by paints, art supplies, and art books. I truly believe that growing up in that creative environment sparked my passion, and I just never stopped experimenting and making art.
I studied Visual Arts at La Esmeralda, but everything I learned about painting came from studying online, thanks to generous artists who shared their process. That spirit of sharing is what inspires me to teach today.
I specialize in portraits, especially animal and whimsical portraits, using vibrant colors, playful backgrounds, and a mix of realism and bold, expressive strokes. I consider my painting process intuitive and meditative; I like to discover the painting as I go and allow for a lot of play and exploration.
In this course, I will share the exercises that truly helped me improve and show how you can have fun with practices that develop your instincts for color, proportion, and looseness. Then i'll teach you how I create my cat portraits and my signature, more elaborate portraits with full backgrounds, step by step.
