Hi, I’m Alejandra Caballero,
a Mexican artist based in Mexico City.
My journey began in my mother’s tiny art studio, where I spent hours drawing as a kid, surrounded by paints and art books. That early creative environment sparked a passion that’s only grown stronger.
I studied visual arts at La Esmeralda, but much of what I know came from learning online—thanks to generous artists sharing their process. That spirit of sharing is what inspires me to teach today.
I specialize in portraits—especially animals—with vibrant colors, playful backgrounds, and a mix of realism and bold, expressive strokes. My process is intuitive and meditative, rooted in strong fundamentals but open to discovery.

Then, we’ll dive into the world of color, exploring the color wheel, harmonies, value, and exercises to improve your instincts with color. You’ll learn how to use color more intentionally and intuitively in your work.

Loosening Up & Painting with Expression
Next, we’ll focus on loosening up your painting skills with simple but powerful exercises. You’ll learn to see shapes more clearly, draw with more confidence, and break free from perfectionism. We’ll explore expressive digital painting, from sculpting with color to giving your digital art a traditional, hand-painted feel. This part is all about flow, experimentation, and finding rhythm in your compositions.
MODULE 5
Finding Your Style & Building Visual Inspiration
Creating expressive art starts with knowing what inspires you. In this section, you’ll learn how to build a visual catalog, create mood boards, and gather references in a way that actually spark ideas. You'll also get practical tips on how to begin finding your own style, without the pressure to "be original" right away. This is about planting the seeds for your personal creative voice.

Painting Your Cat Portrait & Staying Inspired
Now it’s time to put everything together! I’ll guide you through my full cat portrait process. from the initial sketch to color blocking, sculpting, fur details, and final touches. You’ll see how I keep things expressive and experimental throughout.
